Morning Routine - The foundation for success

Establishing a consistent morning routine will help you stick with your plan and remain focused throughout the day. The foundation of the eating plan endorsed here is optimal nutrition, while minimising inflammatory foods, or foods that will in many people trigger an immune response (whether you are aware of this response or not). The morning routine is very simple:

  1. Take a shot of Apple Tonic diluted in water
  2. Wait 20 mins
  3. Have breakfast… which in this case is a bowl of berries with some yogurt mixed in. If cow’s milk affects you, you could try goats milk yogurt or coconut yogurt… just make sure it has no artificial sweeteners (plain greek style is best).

I have a punnet of blueberries every day… not just because I love them, but also because they have a compound in them called anthocyanin which is insanely good for your vascular system and has some anti-inflammatory properties. Need some technical info on this… follow the link below for the science. Blackberries also contain anthocyanin, so eat plenty of them as well!

Do you exercise in the morning? I do! I have struggled recently in getting out of bed, so I have implemented a new routine this week – I get my husband to wake me up when he goes to work, we drive together into town and get a coffee (mine is a skinny piccolo) and then I walk 4 km back home. I then do the breakfast routine (note that I don’t really think it matters that I have had a tiny coffee before anything else – it takes me 40 minutes ish to walk home – it’s all good).

Another option would be to take your vinegar shot before you exercise then have your breakfast when you are finished your workout. Everyone is different so you just need to determine what works best for you and the time you have available.

Get into the habit of this morning routine and you are setting yourself up right for the day!
